Rezoning enacted: Southwynd Place moves to permitting

Vancouver City Council enacted the by-laws rezoning 8080 Yukon Street, completing the rezoning process. The project now advances through the development permit, building permit and financing stages toward construction.

Council approves final rezoning refinements and enacts the Housing Agreement By-law

As a final step before enactment, Council approved a revision to the rezoning that accommodates new building technology and helps avoid construction delays, and enacted the Housing Agreement By-law for 8080 Yukon Street, which formalizes the project's long-term housing commitments with the City.

An application for a development permit was filed with the City for the first of two phases, covering two new buildings of social housing, including a dedicated building for seniors. The application follows the rezoning approval and begins the next stage of City review.

Vancouver City Council approves the Southwynd Place rezoning

Following a public hearing, Vancouver City Council approved the rezoning of 8080 Yukon Street in principle, a decision reported as clearing the way for what the project team and press describe as the largest non-profit-led social housing development in the city's history. The approval builds on more than fifty years of affordable seniors housing at the site, provided by the Society and its two founding organizations, the Kiwanis Club of Vancouver and Soroptimist International of Vancouver.
